God has names for all the stars!

Psalm 147:4

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.

Just try to fathom that piece of “God’s word” for a moment.

Naming millions and millions of stars…

….the majority of which seem to have no relevance to anything in the universe apart from just being there. What point would there be for an incredible intelligence like a god to name every star in the universe? It would be like going to the beach and naming every grain of sand on the beach. Who would bother? Certainly not an intelligent being.

All very well, if you are a shepherd (like King David was) who spent hours each night gazing at the apparent finite number of stars with wonder. You might fancy that God might have a name for each one. However, now we know that there are millions of other stars out there that can’t be seen by the naked eye, something King David was completely unaware of. Which, if he really was communing with the one true God of the universe, he SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.

But no. He was as ignorant as the next bronze-aged shepherd.

If you are a Christian, you might sit under the stars gazing up at the sky contemplating God and creation. And if you are like any other Christian you will probably be moved by it and you might feel like God is revealing things to you as you contemplate and pray. Perhaps this was the same thing with David as he gazed at the night sky while guarding his sheep?

Gazing up at the night sky might be a deeply moving experience but should not be put down to God speaking to you
Gazing up at the night sky might be a deeply moving experience but should not be put down to God speaking to you

So most likely King David put his deeply moving experience and so-called revelation down to God and stated it as a fact even though he had no evidence for it apart from his own wishful thinking. But if he was only kidding himself then that's a real problem for the bible.

This has got to be a huge piece of evidence that the bible is in no way inspired by any god, let alone that God guided the hands of men or revealed truths to them to be written in there. Perhaps most of the so called "word of God" is words from people’s wild imaginations and we shouldn’t take any of it seriously?
