100 reasons I no longer believe - 63

God could not provide adequately translated Bibles

Choosing a book to get his messages to mankind already shows us that the God of the bible isn’t too bright. He could have easily imprinted his word into our brains if he wanted to, but no, he chose a book using ancient languages, one of which is extremely difficult to translate!

This alone is a good reason not to believe in this god, however the problem is exacerbated by the fact we can’t get accurate versions of the bible. In the English language alone we have more than 100 versions of the bible! This provides a HUGE problem for English speaking Christians as it’s impossible to know which ones are translated correctly. As it is we have every amateur translator on the planet trying to put their own translations on the ancient texts!

Seriously, how many times has a Christian tried to claim that an English word in a bible was not translated properly and they come up with an alternate translation, thus putting a completely different spin on what the text says? Christians are NOTORIOUS for this. I’ve seen it everywhere I go in every church I’ve been in and every website I’ve debated on. Christians who think they are better at translating languages like Hebrew than the PROFESSIONAL PUBLISHERS!

It's crazy!

Why could a god not give us one English translation that says it all exactly as he wants it said to us? Or even better, like I suggested before, imprint it into our brains in a way that every person can understand, so we can’t possibly get an incorrect message.

But no, we are stuck with multiple versions of English scriptures with sometimes MAJOR differences. And not only that, we have translations of copies of  copies of translations of copies… we have no original texts from which to go by!

What kind of an incompetent God would put us in this situation when his word to us is supposedly so important?
