The Bible contains broken promises

The bible contains a lot of promises and assurances, but whenever those things are proven to be false a Christian will come up with all sorts of excuses. They will also find contradictory scriptures to explain away the apparent broken promise, not seeming to care at all that there is a contradiction. So yeah, to explain away many of the broken promises by God in the bible, you have to dig up bible contradictions. It all becomes a real mess.

I discuss this in more details here:

God’s Promises – Broken!

I'm sure there will be cherry-picking Christians out there who will claim that many of these promises were meant only for the people at the time, ie, the ones being addressed or written to. In which case how can we know for sure that ANY of the bible is relevant for us today? Why don't we take ALL scripture as only meant for the people at the time?

For instance, everything Jesus ever said was directed at people he was with. ALL the epistles were written to specific people or churches.

Maybe even SALVATION is only for those at the time too?
