John Pinkerton (2)

Born 19 April 1783 in Haddington East Lothian Scotland.   

Married:  MARGARET GIBSON 19 April 1812, Haddington.

MARGARET b 1791, Yester, East Lothian, Scotland. d 1872, Edinburgh, Scotland (81 yrs)

He was a watchmaker between 1804 - 1850.  All of his children were born in Haddington. Most went to England and emigrated to Australia.

When Henry Pinkerton’s cousin Grace, from Australia, went to Haddington in Scotland 1980's to 90's, she found the current watchmaker still repairing Grandfather clocks John had made.

It is possible that John's parents were JOHN PINKERTON who was a tailor, and Janet Spreul. 

Margaret was baptised 1796 and came from Berwick on Tweed. She moved from Haddington to Edinburgh, with a son and 2 daughters and ran a guest house after husband John died.
