Robert Campbell Pinkerton

Born 29 January 1819 in Haddington East Lothian Scotland, and died 1 July 1886 in Yandina Queensland Australia. (67yrs)

Married:  AMELIA ALICE DAVIS 5 October 1841 in St Giles Church England Camberwell, daughter of RICHARD DAVIS and MISS HALL.

Went London 1840 where he met and  married Amelia, whose  father  Richard Davis married to Ann Hall, both from Oxford, was a tailor. Amelia had 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
When Robert and Amelia left Plymouth, in the Hereford for NSW Australia on the 20 September 1878 they took Margaret 21 yrs and Helen 17yrs with them. The other children had all emigrated before their parents. The adult fare was £14.8.6 each. Robert was a diabetic. He was a watchmaker like his father John. Robert & Amelia had 9 children. They could all read and write.

OBITUARY:     7 JULY 1898. Monday's SYDNEY TELEGRAPH records the death on the previous day of:

Mrs Amelia Alice Pinkerton, aged 77, wife of the late Mr Robert Campbell Pinkerton, at the residence of her son-in-law Mr. W.R.Jones Petersham. Deceased was the mother of Mr.R. Pinkerton and Mrs T Turner, both residence of Bowral, to whom we tender our sympathy. The remains were interred in the Necropolis yesterday (Tuesday} afternoon.
