The Bible contains absurd stories that can't be true

There can be no doubt that many stories in the bible, particularly in the Old Testament are simply too crazy to be believable. They sound exactly like myths. Christians scoff at stories told by other religions and cultures, yet when it comes to the bible they employ double standards and say because it’s in the bible it must be true. After all, Jesus took the old Testaments stories as true!

But we KNOW a man cannot survive in the belly of a fish for very long.  We KNOW that epilepsy is not cause by demons, we KNOW that there was no way Noah could get two of every species of animal in the ark when many of them came from across the ocean and we KNOW they could never have returned to those places.

Oh we can put it all down to magic if we want, but why would we honestly do that? If it can all be put down to magic, then God could have magically solved many of his problems without resorting to barbaric solutions.

I used to debate with a Christian online who came up with something I’d never heard before. He believed that every soul on Earth has previously existed in the spirit realm and that they were sent to be born on Earth as punishment for sins (which was why Jesus was sent that way to pay for our sins). So in effect, Earth is Hell and it’s a place you have to redeem yourself. He used another ridiculous bible story to back up his claim.

That of Isaac and Esau fighting each other in their mothers womb. (Genesis 25:22)

My friend indicated that they were already well aware of their previous lives in the spirit realm and already hated each other. But once born those memories are repressed. However with Isaac and Esau bitterness remained.

The whole idea that Isaac and Esau were wrestling each other in their mother’s womb is patently ridiculous because we KNOW that before a baby is born they do not have the motor skills to fight. They are helpless. The most they can do is kick a bit and thrash around.

What was most likely happening is that these two babies were just super active, as some babies are in their mother’s womb so it was an uneducated presumption that the two babies were fighting each other. Yet, the bible quite clearly tries to claim they really were fighting. How ridiculous! The writer of this story clearly wasn't being inspired or guided by any god here!

It’s stories like these which undermine the integrity of the bible and show it NOT to be God's word.

Christians like to claim the the bible is a historical document, but I refute that here:

Bible - Historical document?
